wines of the territory

The Wines of the Territory embody our territorial identity and represent the purest expression of our traditional grape varietals. They narrate about sunny vineyards, white masserie, ancient olive trees, hands cultivating the land with love. These wines guard the secrets of an extraordinary place: Salento.

A single glass is enough to grasp all the beauty of this territory, whose charm arises from an inseparable bond between its history and its inhabitants.

LIRANU

NEGROAMARO ROSSO SUPERIORE DOP

Liranu is the dialectal name for Leverano, the town where our family put down roots five centuries ago and where our winery still stands today. Liranu is produced from Negroamaro grapes, the most important variety in Salento that creates a wine with intense color and a bold yet soft taste.

soil

Leverano: medium texture soil, some parts with ‘terra rossa’ (red soil) for the presence of iron oxides. This type of soil offers a balance of sand, silt and clay, facilitating water and nutrient retention and ensuring vines a constant supply of essential substances for their growth. In some areas of Leverano the presence of red soil is observed due to iron oxides. This feature enriches the complexity of the wines, as the minerals in the soil influence the aromatic profile and the wine structure, giving them unique notes.

RIFUGIO

PRIMITIVO SALENTO IGP

This wine takes its name from an underground shelter where the local inhabitants took refuge during times of danger. The surrounding area took the name Rifugio, particularly well-suited today for the cultivation of quality Primitivo grapes

soil

Veglie: silty loam soil, with good drainage capacity. The soil in Veglie has a silty-loamy composition, with a significant advantage in terms of drainage. This is crucial for the cultivation of Primitivo grapes, because a good drainage prevents water stagnation around the roots, reducing the risk of root diseases and rot. The loamy component of the soil contributes to its porous texture, allowing the roots to breathe and extend freely in search of nutrients. This type of soil is favorable for producing high-quality grapes, as vines can grow optimally, ensuring uniform ripening and a balanced concentration of sugars and acidity in the bunches.
